30 severely wounded Ukrainians were evacuated with the help of a "flying hospital" to undergo treatment in Germany

Within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the European Commission, another 30 patients from Kharkiv and eastern regions of Ukraine were evacuated. As is known, these are the people who suffered from Russia's military aggression: adults and children with severe mine blast injuries; with diseases that are currently impossible to treat in Ukraine or that require specialized treatment.

Currently, the Kharkiv region and the eastern regions are constantly under attack by the russian aggressor army. Many residential buildings, infrastructure objects, schools and hospitals have been destroyed in these areas, making it difficult to provide medical care.

Initially, the patients were taken by evacuation train to the Lviv region to stabilize their condition, and then transported to specialized treatment on the route "Lviv - Rzeszow - Cologne". For this purpose, at a certain stage, a "flying hospital" was involved - a special medical service flight Luftwaffe of the German Armed Forces.

There are 38 beds for patients on board the "flying hospital". In addition, the board is equipped with six modules of intensive care, which include systems of artificial ventilation, control of circulatory functions and infusions, portable ultrasound machine. During the flight, patients are cared for by 25 doctors and nurses.

Owing to cooperation with the European Commission, the Ministry of Health has an opportunity to promptly search for a specialized clinic in one of the EU countries for the treatment and rehabilitation of Ukrainians through the EU's emergency response system. International partners in cooperation with the Emergency Medical Service of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine provide transportation of patients from the hospital in the frontline area through the Lviv Medical Hub to the airport in Poland. Then the matter is taken over by air hospitals.

The Ministry of Health, in synergy with its partners, is doing everything possible to save people and provide them with the necessary medical care. "Medical convoys" are an example of one of the effective ways to save patients, when the Ministry submits an evacuation request and receives proposals from various member states of the European Union and the European Economic Area. The Ministry of Health then contacts the clinic and agrees on the stages and routes of safe medical transportation.
