On 27 February, the delegations of Ukraine and US to the OSCE held the event on "Human rights violations in Crimea and parts of Donbas" in the OSCE headquarters, which was co-sponsored by the EU member states, Canada and Georgia.

Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the International Organizations in Vienna Ihor Prokopchuk and Chargé d’Affaires of the US Mission to the OSCE Harry Kamian in their opening remarks stressed the importance of the OSCE participating States' attention to the gross violation of all the OSCE basic principles, as well as the fundamental freedoms and human rights in the occupied territories - in Crimea and in parts of Donbas on the fourth anniversary of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine.

Ihor Prokopchuk highlighted the events held in Ukraine and throughout the world on the occasion of the Day of Crimean resistance to Russian occupation, as well as the certain facts of human rights violations in Donbas and Crimea that need to be addressed.

Harry Camian confirmed the United States' support to Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders and continued pressure on the Russian Federation. A similar statement was made by the EU Representative to the OSCE Ioannis Vrailas.

Oleksandra Romantsova, a human rights defender, deputy head of the Center for Civil Liberties presented numerous facts of human rights violations in the occupied territories of Ukraine, as well as the steps taken jointly by civil society and Ukrainian authorities to register the offenses, to return the rights and to bring the perpetrators to justice, including those responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

During the discussion of the presentation, Oleksandra Romantsova emphasized the urgency of the OSCE and its participating States' response to human rights violations being recorded by human rights defenders, to correct them and to bring the perpetrators to justice. Also, the human rights activist urged the participants to contribute to establishment of a broad platform for discussing the ways of de-occupation of Crimea, where the representatives of both government and civil society would be involved.
