On February 22, 2018, the meeting with
the delegation of the US Congress,
Ms.Elise Stefanik and Mr.Anthony Brown, the members
of the House
of Representatives, was held at
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
of Ukraine on a wide range
of issues of bilateral security
cooperation.
The Ukrainian side
was represented, in particular, by Director-General for International Security Sergii Shutenko, Political Director Oleksii Makeiev and Deputy Director
of the Directorate-General for the Americas
Yaroslav Brisiuck.
The Ukrainian side
expressed its appreciation to the United States
for its firm
stance on rebuffing Russian aggression and defending Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. American partners have been briefed
on security situation in Ukraine,
as well as
on numerous facts of the
continuous violation by the Russian
Federation of the fundamental norms and principles
of international law, in particular
with regard to occupation of
the Ukraine's Autonomous Republic of Crimea and
military aggression in the east
of Ukraine.
The US delegation emphasized
that the US was determined to continue strong
support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty
of Ukraine, and noted the
progress of Ukraine in stabilizing
economic situation and carrying out
a number of important reforms.
Both sides shared their
vision on the current state
and prospects for further expansion
of bilateral cooperation in the area of
security, inter alia, related to
strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities, as well as
stressed the need to increase
international pressure on the Russian
Federation until Russia fully implements
the Minsk agreements.
