  • Germany is Ukraine's strategic partner in renewable energy sector

    Promising areas of cooperation were touched upon in the course of the meeting between Serhii Savchuk, Head of State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE), Oleksandr Dombrovskyi, the First Deputy Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety, Hans-Josef Fell, a former member of the German Parliament and President of the Energy Watch Group and representatives of line associations and companies.

    Head of the SAEE commended the achievements of fruitful cooperation with the German partners, in particular within the framework of GIZ projects, and emphasized the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation in renewable energy.

    In 2016 Germany entered the TOP-5 countries of the world in terms of investment in renewable energy. Especially successful is the sphere of clean electricity production.

    President of the Energy Watch Group expressed his vision of a successful clean energy policy and talked about the Energy Watch Group's research on the possibilities for switching to 100% renewable energy.

    On the outcomes of the meeting, the attendees agreed to consider the proposal aired by the President of the Energy Watch Group relating to the creation of an Ukrainian-German platform on which government officials, parliamentarians, business and experts from both countries would be able to develop effective solutions aimed to stimulate the development of renewable energy in Ukraine.
