Cooperation with Canada is among crucial issues of the international component of the activities for the Government of Ukraine, especially in the context of Canada’s 2018 G-7 presidency. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced during a meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Canada Chrystia Freeland within the scope of the visit of the Canadian Minister to Ukraine.

The Head of Government thanked the Government of Canada for the warm reception during the visit of the Ukrainian Government delegation to Canada and added that he is always pleased to receive Canadian partners in Kyiv. He added that the agenda of partnership between the two countries is rather rich.

The cooperation directions range from the agro-sector to aircraft engineering and joint exploration of space. An important partnership tool, according to Volodymyr Groysman, is a FTA that has already allowed the countries to double mutual trade turnover. "And it's time now to take full advantage of the potential of the FTA Agreement," the Head of Government assures.

In turn, Chrystia Freeland offered support to Kyiv. "For Canada the relations with Ukraine are important as well. Canada takes over the presidency of the Group of Seven, and we will be ready to discuss the Ukrainian issue (in its various aspects)," said Chrystia Freeland.

During the talks, the parties summed up the results of 2017 and recognized as ambitious the plans for 2018. Among the top priorities are further deregulation and the launch of a new system of state supervision, the introduction of new rules for privatization and conducting of the first wave of large-scale sale of non-strategic state assets, continuation of cooperation with international financial organizations, primarily with the IMF.

"We have succeeded in consolidating cooperation with the Parliament for pursuing the reforms," stressed Volodymyr Groysman, "We will spare no effort and preserve our consolidation in the future. I believe that in the first half of 2018 we will adopt necessary decisions so that on the outcomes of 2018 we could demonstrate a 3-4% growth in the economy."
