Mr Rusnak briefed the audience on the activities related
to the implementation of the International Humanitarian Law within
the Ukrainian army.
“We praise
the comprehensive support provided by your Committee to the civil
population of Ukraine suffering from the armed conflict in east
of Ukraine. I would like to thank you for cooperation and
partnership with our units. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are open for
further discussions and observe the International Humanitarian Law during
hostilities”, Rusnak stressed.
Head
of Mission (International Committee of the Red Cross) Mr Alain Aeschlimann
mentioned that the representatives of the Red Cross had established close
cooperation with CIMIC officers, and inform civil population on EOD,
IED, etc. He also spoke about plans to equip rooms in National
Land Forces Academy (Lviv) and Kyiv Taras Shevchenko Military Institute (Kyiv) to study the
International Humanitarian Law.
The parties
discussed the issues of protection of civil infrastructure suffering
during hostilities, considered many issues and proposals.
They also
focused on discussion of the preliminary plan of joint actions
in 2018 and the form of the future seminar to be held next
spring in Kyiv with representatives of security structures
of Ukraine in compliance with the norms of International Humanitarian Law.
