Ukraine has every
opportunity to achieve energy independence by boosting its own resource development , first of
all, gas production, and liberalizing the fuel market, and
as a result
to ensure the systematic reduction
of gas prices
within the country. This was announced by Prime Minister
of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman on air of
the ICTV channel in
the Freedom of Speech program.
"We have
managed to halt the decline
of our own
production, and by the end
of the year
we will have
650-700 million cubic meters of our
own gas. Due to investment
attraction and reasonable market regulation, we will achieve energy
independence and we will systematically
reduce the price of gas
within the country,"
emphasized the Prime Minister.
In this regard,
he stressed that the increase
in extraction will occur simultaneously
with the modernization of industry through the introduction of sectoral support
programs and the possibility of installment payment of VAT when importing the necessary equipment,
and simultaneously with the introduction
of energy efficiency programs. According to the
Head of Government,
the total funding for such
programs will amount to UAH 4 billion.
"We are
planning an ambitious sum worth
than 2 billion hryvnias for energy efficiency in the draft state budget,
and we expect
the same indicator of attracting
funds from international partners (within the framework
of the launch
of the Energy
Efficiency Fund)," the Head of
Government underscored.
