  • Volodymyr Omelyan and Andrzej Adamczyk signed a Memorandum of Understanding within the framework of the Via Carpatia project

    Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, and Andrzej Adamczyk, the Minister of infrastructure and construction of the Republic of Poland, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on further cooperation within the framework of the Via Carpatia project. The ceremony of signing took place in Peremyshl (Poland) on October 22, 2017.

    Volodymyr Omelyan and Andrzej Adamczyk had a bilateral meeting, during which parties discussed preparations for the construction of two new transport corridors: Via Carpatia and Go Highway, as well as improvement of the railway infrastructure connecting Ukraine and Poland. Volodymyr Omelyan emphasized that Via Carpatia project is an important transport initiative that can become a new reliable bridge between North and South Europe, as well as help to integrate transport systems of Eastern Europe and the European Union.

    "The corridor across the Carpathians is the bridge between Europe and Asia using the transit potential of Poland and Ukraine and other partner-countries. That is why development of transport infrastructure is crucial important for providing a sustainable transport connection in the direction from Europe to Asia through the territory of Ukraine and Poland", the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine said.

    During the visit to Poland, Volodymyr Omelyan together with Andriy Parubiy, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Marek Kuchciński will inspect work of the checkpoints on the Polish-Ukrainian border and development of the border infrastructure.
