In the scope of the implementation of the approved Energy Strategy by 2035, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has been vigorously working to increase the capacities of Ukrainian nuclear power plants aimed to secure the domestic energy demands and export electricity. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced during A Question Time for the Government at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The Head of Government reminded that in September Kharkiv had been the venue for the ceremony of signing large agreements with American partners to roll out NPP equipment modernization projects to the tune of over USD 5 billion. "We have embarked on work on the European power interconnector. I think that from 2021 we will have chance to proceed to the completion of units. This is our plan, we have focused on that, we exert every effort to ensure safety of the nuclear power industry and availability of facilities to satisfy the domestic needs and to switch to electricity exports. This would improve the economy’s performance and sustainability," said Volodymyr Groysman.
