The Ministry of
Infrastructure of Ukraine has a keen
interest in cooperation within the framework of
the project "Support of Leading
Organizations in Combating Corruption in Ukraine" InterAction", which is being implemented
with the assistance of the
U.S. Agency for International Development
(USAID). This was stated by Deputy
Minister of Infrastructure Yuriy Lavrenyuk during a meeting with the
project manager L. Held.
Yuriy Lavrenyuk emphasized
the Ministry of Infrastructure was the pioneer
among the state authorities to establish the
post of Deputy
Minister responsible for the prevention
and fight against corruption. «This was the
initiative of the Minister of
Infrastructure. Anticorruption
Department was created at once.
We have built
a competent professional team that implements
measures designed to prevent, detect
and counteract corruption», the Deputy Minister stressed.
He noted the
Ministry of Infrastructure is open to dialogue
with the public and added
that they have established a public monitoring committee that constantly controls the use of
public funds and an effective
institute of authorized persons for the prevention
of corruption, both in the
Ministry and in state enterprises
that are under the Ministry’s
management.
In turn, the
project manager commended impressive results of the
Ministry in preventing and fighting against corruption and expressed a desire to collaborate. As a promising direction for cooperation,
Yuriy Lavrenyuk proposed to create
a General Inspectorate in the structure
of the Ministry,
following the example of the
United States. «I hope that with
the support of the "InterAction"
project as well as of the USAID we will have such an inspectorate in the Ministry of
Infrastructure», he underscored.
The interlocutors discussed
a further plan of cooperation and agreed on
the next meeting.
