On September 6, Deputy Minister for Agrarian Policy and Food Olena Kovaliova met in Riga with Minister of Agriculture of Latvia Jānis Dūklavs. The parties discussed Ukrainian and Latvian agricultural policies and implementation of the Free Trade Agreement.
The meeting was held within the framework of a study visit of the Ukrainian delegation to learn the Latvian experience of development of rural areas, EU market, government support of small and mid-sized enterprises and forms of cooperation between the government and business.
During the visit, which started on 5 September and will last till 9 September, the delegation is scheduled to meet with government and non-government organizations to discuss the development of rural territories.
On September 6, the delegation attended the international exhibition “Riga Food”, having toured the Latvian, foreign and Ukrainian stands – Ukraine is represented by food, drinks and pack producers.
The visit was jointly organized by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre within the framework of the project of Strengthening the Advisory System for Integration of Agricultural Sector into EU Market.
