Prime Minister
Volodymyr Groysman initiated holding comprehensive analysis of the situation in
the gas industry, from administrative issues to relations with regional
councils, primarily in the issue of blocking the work of state companies. He announced
this during a Government sitting.
“Let's give orders
– regarding the State Service of Geology and Mineral Resources, regarding
licenses, other issues - within a month to settle the problems and create proper
conditions for Ukraine to become a state that does not import but exports gas”,
the Head of Government urged. “I have a strong interest in Ukraine producing 20
billion cubic meters and more.”
He emphasized that Ukraine has every opportunity to boost extraction, as it ranks among the largest states in Europe with rich fuel deposits. Thus, according to the data of SE Ukrgazvydobuvannya, gas reserves in Ukraine exceed 900 billion cubic meters. The increase in production based on the current year showing will exceed 600 million cubic meters.
Earlier, the Head
of Government stressed that the policy of the Government of Ukraine to enhance
the domestic gas production would allow the country to improve performance by
600-700 million cubic meters this year, and in 2020 to achieve full energy
independence as well as to change the pricing policy in the fuel market.
