The Antonov Company supports a proposal of the Government of
Ukraine and pursues an initiative to use Kyiv-Antonov
airport near Gostomel to service low-cost airlines thereby
preparing a business plan for the respective project, as was reported by the
press service of the company.
“In compliance with
an order of Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman aired during a meeting
with the team of the Antonov State Enterprise at the
Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, a working group was set up to prepare a
business plan for the utilization of Kyiv-Antonov airport
near Gostomel to provide service for low-cost
airlines”, reads the statement. “The aforesaid aerodrome has been
certified according to the ICAO meteorological conditions of Landing Category 1
with both landing headings being convenient for the operation at day and night
round the year. At present,
the airport is used as a port for cargo aircraft and test flights."
The development of infrastructure towards improvement of passenger service is viewed to be for the benefit of both the airport and the region. "Among the topmost factors is new jobs", claims the company refuting statements about the unwillingness to fulfill the task set by the Government.
