Special cyber protection unit to be established in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, says the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak.

These types of agencies may be subordinate to different departments depending on the nation. In Lithuania, they are subordinated to the Ministry of Defense and considered responsible for the safety of the defense ministry and submitting recommendations to all other ministries. We have a certain system, although combining it around one ministry requires a governmental consideration. This process is already taken very seriously at the level of National Security Council, — told the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak in an interview to Interfax-Ukraine.

According to the Minister of Defense, the activities to “establish units, networks, and software to protect Ukraine against cyber-attacks” are already in progress.

— NATO advisor is currently assisting us in the development of a structure for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Still, I believe that advisory assistance may be complemented with material support. Cyber protection is presently considered the prerogative of the Security Service of Ukraine, but we shall support it with funds and personnel at our level. We have already started the establishment of this agency, — told the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak.
