On 18 March, registration for the Google AI Essentials course on the Coursera platform started. In the first wave of training, 2,500 Ukrainians will have the opportunity to master artificial intelligence (AI) skills and learn how to apply it in their professional activities free of charge. The project is being implemented as part of cooperation between Google Ukraine and the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine. The training will be provided through five organisations: the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation, Veteran Hub, EdEra, Kyiv School of Economics (KSE), and NGO Girls.

“We are grateful to Google for its cooperation and the opportunity for Ukrainians to acquire AI skills. It is especially important that veterans will receive priority in access to training. Women who want to start using artificial intelligence to develop their careers and increase their productivity are also among the priority categories. This is an important contribution to strengthening the role of women and encouraging female leadership,” says Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy.

What is AI Essentials?

AI Essentials course is an opportunity for everyone who wants to understand the basics of artificial intelligence and learn how to apply it effectively in their professional activities. Designed for both beginners and experienced professionals, the course will enable participants to:

• Understand the basic principles of artificial intelligence.
• Create effective queries for generative AI.
• Use AI to automate tasks, etc.

AI Essentials is designed to help students confidently use artificial intelligence in their work and enhance their professional skills. Supplementary materials include webinars with experts on how to find a job with AI skills.

The course takes up to 10 hours to complete and the training materials are available online for registered students to complete at their own pace and time. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a certificate from Coursera.

How to register

Registration for the first stage of the training started on 18 March and will last for 2 weeks. To register for the training:

• Go to website.
• Choose an organisation through which you can access the AI Essentials course (Ukrainian Veterans Foundation, Veteran Hub, EdEra, Kyiv School of Economics, NGO Girls).
• Fill out the registration form on the organisation’s website (you do not need to register for the AI Essentials course on the Coursera platform at this stage).
• Wait for a response from the organisation.

Priority will be given to access to AI Essentials training:

• Veterans, military personnel, and their families;
• Women.

In November 2024, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, and Google Ukraine launched a platform with free resources for learning AI.
