Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman demands to speed up the process of gearing up for the repair and reconstruction of roads in Ukraine. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine on opening a Government meeting on Wednesday
“We need to speed up preparatory work and launch as soon as possible pothole patching, medium as well as major repairs, and reconstruction activities”, stressed Volodymyr Groysman.
The Head of Government noted that a few weeks ago he had given a commission to Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan to conduct proper organization to restore order in the road economy.
Last year the Government allocated about UAH 10 billion for large-scale repairs and reconstructions of roads, reminded the Prime Minister. In many regions that could boast with good quality of road repairing activities the changes were tangible, however in general the current condition of roads is unsatisfactory, stressed the Prime Minister. According to him, the area of damaged roads in Ukraine has grown especially after the winter.
There has been planned a threefold increase in financing of the road economy in 2017. The Government will allocate for this purpose the sum worth UAH 30 billion during the year, noted the Head of the Government.
In this regard Volodymyr Groysman emphasized the importance to ensure high quality preparatory work as well as effective use of allocated funds.
“I consider it crucial to shape a scheme of tender procedures, transparency and control of quality in such a manner to guarantee absolute openness. If someone stoles something it should be out in the open. It is of utmost importance to prevent the inefficient use of resources”, summed up the Head of the Government.
