Throughout 5 days of work a new team of Odessa Customs Office has fulfilled a monthly plan of customs revenues to fill the state budget, stated Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during Dragon Capital 13th Annual Ukraine Investor Conference.

"A new acting head of the State Fiscal Service sent me the information yesterday - I was in Turkey – about the results of activities of the Odessa Customs Office. We had formed a separate division of 17 people who went there to organize proper work. I would like to give just one figure: throughout 5 days the Odessa Customs has implemented the plan of one month. Just imagine the scale of corruption at the Odessa Customs", urged Volodymyr Groysman.

Odessa customs covers 50% of all procedures of control over the flow of goods all across Ukraine, he added.

"We will stop that, we will overcome corruption in all customs offices of the country. We will control the reform of the customs. We must eliminate inefficient customs. Hence, we’ll achieve two goals: on the one hand, we will ensure filling of the Ukrainian budget and will create conditions for strong competition", explained Volodymyr Groysman.

According to him, "gray import" prevents budget revenues and destroys competitiveness among the producers.

The customs reform is included into agenda of priority reforms for the Government, he said. The Government has developed the tools and resources for its modernization.

"We want them [customs services – ed.] to be transparent, automated and fast", he said.
