  • Volodymyr Groysman during a meeting with families of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes: Struggle for an independent and successful Ukraine is underway. We must win this fight

    Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman together with members of the Cabinet of Ministers and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Speaker of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubii, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko met with families of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and victims of the Revolution of Dignity.

    “For each of you these days that rocked the whole world and our country are rather tough”, said Volodymyr Groysman at the meeting. “For each of us those terrible events left indelible imprint on our memories."

    “I want to assure you that me and my colleagues always remember those who passed away, those who were innocent victims”, said the Prime Minister. “We are well aware of the responsibility we have. But I want to reassure you, and we believe in it, that we will be able to lead our country out of the crisis in which we occurred, facing such extremely difficult challenges, including military aggression - both external and internal. The struggle for an independent and successful Ukraine is underway. We must win this fight".

    Volodymyr Groysman noted that in late November he had met with representatives of the Initiative group of victims of the Maidan events to discuss problematic issues. Last week there took place another meeting with those who suffered during the Revolution of Dignity, and the Government’s members introduced them with the implemented decisions in this direction.

    In particular, the Government increased the one-off cash assistance by almost twofold. So, family members of those whose death is related to participation in mass public protests held in the period from 21 November 2013 till 21 February 2014; persons who were posthumously awarded the title Hero of Ukraine were paid last year UAH 137 thousand, and this year – UAH 320 thousand. Persons who got serious bodily injuries in the past year received UAH 69 thousand, this year – UAH 160 thousand. The payments to persons with injuries of medium severity upped from UAH 35 thousand to UAH 80 thousand.

    In addition, there was supported an initiative on the establishment of an Institute of advisers to heads of regional state administrations from among the activists of the Revolution. The Government agreed on this issue with the President, sent the corresponding appeals to the regions. A coordinator of the Initiative group of victims on the Maidan events Pavlo Sydorenko was appointed Advisor to the Prime Minister.

    Moreoevr, in the structure of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine there was created a sector of social protection of the victims during the Revolution of Dignity, and members of their families, “which will cooperate on a regular basis in order to quickly resolve all issues".

    “Such mechanisms will enable us to work faster, to adopt decisions and to ensure the issues be resolved”, said Volodymyr Groysman.

    The meeting was also attended by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko, Vice Prime Minister/ Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko, Vice Prime Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Lilia Hrynevych, Minister of Culture of Ukraine Yevhen Nyshchuk, Minister of Social Policy Andrii Reva, acting Minister of Health of Ukraine Uliana Suprun, head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Hrytsak, head of the National police of Ukraine Serhii Knyazev.

    The participants of the event honored the memory of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes with a minute of silence.
