Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark Anders Samuelsen on Monday. The parties discussed principal priorities of deepening bilateral cooperation and plans of the Government to prolong reforms in Ukraine.
"The challenge for the next few years is to ensure economic growth, to promote further reforms and changes vital for the state. This process is crucial for our country", said Volodymyr Groysman.
The Government is now working at shaping of the Medium-Term Priority Action Programme until 2020, told the Prime Minister.
Volodymyr Groysman stressed the importance of support by Denmark for the activities of the Government regarding reforms in Ukraine, in particular in curbing corruption and energy sector.
"For us, cooperation and friendly relations with Denmark are of extreme significance. We truly appreciate that", emphasized the Head of Ukrainian Government.
In this regard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark noted that the Government of Ukraine had succeeded in achieving significant progress in reforms.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark told that the Danish side would coordinate the project to support the fight against corruption in Ukraine in the framework of the "anti-corruption initiatives of the European Union".
Denmark is also developing a medium-term 5-year strategy to continue to support reforms in Ukraine in decentralization, anti-corruption, energy, public administration, noted the head of the Danish Foreign Ministry.
Volodymyr Groysman thanked the Kingdom of Denmark for the overall support of Ukraine in countering Russian aggression and briefed about the situation in the Donbas.
In turn, the Foreign Minister of Denmark stressed that the Kingdom reaffirms its support for Ukraine, condemning the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia and the violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
Anders Samuelsen also noted that his visit to Ukraine was the first in a series of visits outside the European Union. "For us, for Denmark, it is very important to maintain good relations and to enhance the quality of collaboration with Ukraine", he said.
Separately the parties raised an issue of energy security in Europe, namely in the context of the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.
