2016 Brussels hosted a ceremony of signing by the Government of Ukraine and the
European Commission of a series of agreements
on participation of
Ukraine in EU-funded programmes for cross-border cooperation involving Romania-Ukraine, Poland-Belarus-Ukraine,
Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine and the Black Sea region.
From the
Government of Ukraine the agreement was inked by First Vice
Prime Minister of Ukraine/ Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv, from the European
Commission – by Director
General for Enlargement at the European Commission Christian Danielsson.
The
programmes, worth a total of €365 million, will continue to promote economic
and social development in regions on both sides of common borders; address
common challenges, in such fields as environment, public health and the
prevention of and fight against organised crime; as well as ensure efficient
and secure borders, which promote local cross-border people-to-people contacts.
