On November 29, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with the pilots of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) who helped to extinguish fires in the State of Israel. He thanked them for exemplary performance of assigned tasks.

On behalf of the Government of the State of Israel, Minister of the Interior Aryeh Makhlouf Deri presented the Ukrainian rescuers a Certificate for participation in fighting fires.

Background

The decree №519 / 2016 "On humanitarian assistance to the State of Israel" was signed by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on November 24, 2016, according to which two crews of the SES participated in extinguishing forest fires in the State of Israel. Now the activities on liquidation of fires completed and soon the SES crews will return to Ukraine.

The plane An-32P is designed for extinguishing forest fires and at a time can take on board up to 8 tonnes of water. In Israel's firefighting were taking part Ukraine, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, USA, Croatia, Great Britain, France, Italy, Turkey, Jordan, and Egypt.
