The Prime
Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman
supports initiatives that will ensure the efficiency and transparency of the
work of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia and will make the company
one of the most successful in the country. He said this during a Government
meeting on Wednesday.
“I’m ready
to support initiatives for implementation this plan [the modernization of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia]. I’m ready to destroy any mafia that can
come close to Ukrzaliznytsia", the Prime
Minister said.
According
to Volodymyr Groysman,
state-owned company JSC Ukrzaliznytsia has the
potential to be a billionaire, but it is “chronically affected with corruption,
inefficiency”. This is a typical problem for large state enterprises.
In this
regard, today the new management of the company faces challenges to overcome
the internal sabotage and other obstacles that hinder to make quick and
effective decisions, Volodymyr Groysman
emphasized.
The Prime
Minister is convinced that the steps undertaken and planned in Ukrzaliznytsia regarding modernization, purchase of cars,
changes to the system of fuel procurement, the introduction of work in the
electronic system of public procurement ProZorro
should make the company the front-runner and to ensure the transparency of its
work.
In turn,
the Government should support those initiatives that will provide an
opportunity to modernize the company, said Volodymyr Groysman.
"I
believe that we should support initiatives that will enable the company to
become transparent, open, - he said. - Our task today is to give full political
support in cause of full transparency management".
The Prime
Minister also stressed the need to strengthen management and to change the
Supervisory Board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia onto the
professional and independent.
Professional and independent Supervisory Board should evaluate
the work of the company's
management, Volodymyr Groysman noticed.
In this
context, he said that the Government would evaluate the work of the Chairman of
JSC Ukrzaliznytsia on the results of his activities
during the year and after the report on the executed work.
The PM also
thanked the Chairman of the Board Wojciech Balczun for the job and resistance to challenges.
