On Tuesday the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman held a meeting with representatives of the contractors performing road construction work in 2016 on general-purpose highways.

The Head of Government stressed that the construction of roads is a priority for the Government. In 2017 it is planned to double financing for the construction and reconstruction of roads, either through budgetary resources or through support of international financial institutions.

"Construction and reconstruction of roads in the country is the priority for the Government. For us it is very important that the investment that we allocated for the construction, reconstruction of Ukrainian roads to be qualitatively used", the PM stressed.

However, addressing the representatives of the contracting companies, the Prime Minister stressed that abuse, "kickbacks" are unacceptable.

He also noted that nobody has the right to demand bribes from contractors.

The Government will review the use of funds allocated for the construction and reconstruction of roads, Volodymyr Groysman said.

"I have only interest in a greater volume of quality roads in Ukraine. It depends on you. Those who have made you criminal offer, I will find them and they will be punished. This is the issue of principle," he said.

The Prime Minister called on the representatives of companies to maximize the usage of existing resources and the funds that were saved to invest in a greater volume of road works and more qualitative repair of roads.

“I’d like to address you so that quality and price will be not just a word, but a true indicator which will give you to developing”, the Head of the Government stressed.

The participants of the meeting discussed main issues that concern contractors while conducting road works.
