On Friday, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman held a meeting to tackle a strategy of development of road infrastructure for 2016-2018, with the participation of the World Bank Director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Satu Kähkönen and Government representatives.
Volodymyr Groysman stressed that the construction of roads in the country was included into the priority list of activities of the Government. In this context, he stressed the need for coordination of efforts of the Government and the World Bank to launch the reconstruction of Ukrainian road network next year.
"We should draft a strategy for the development of Ukrainian road infrastructure, to determine the resource we need for this purpose, stages of the construction activities - all that has to be completed by the end of year," he said.
The participants of the meeting discussed main directions of the Road Development Strategy for 2016-2018, as well as funding opportunities by reviewing the current package of the World Bank projects, those not used efficiently.
The Prime Minister urged the strategy should be completed by 1 December, while the first stage of it should be launched on 1 April next year.
The Head of Government also offered to raise the level of the working group and appoint Vice-Prime Minister to chair the party of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
In this context, Volodymyr Groysman thanked the Country Director of the World Bank for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Satu Kähkönen for the support of Government initiatives on construction of roads in Ukraine.
