Ukraine’s Minister of Defence holds talks with US Ambassador to Ukraine

General of the Army of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak, Minister of Defence of Ukraine, has held talks with the US Ambassador Marie L. Yovanovich.

General Poltorak congratulated the Ambassador on her appointment and wished fruitful work.

“The United States fulfills promises and supports democracy,” the Minister said, “The assistance received from the US Government is very important and urgent for Ukraine and its army.”

General Poltorak spoke about the progress of reforms and stressed they were highly praised during the Warsaw Summit where the Comprehensive Package of Assistance was approved.

“The army reforms are implemented as scheduled according to strategic documents developed in participation of the NATO advisors,” the Minister noted, “We have a strict plan of reforms to achieve a compatibility with the Alliance countries by 2020.”

Ambassador Marie L. Yovanovich reaffirmed she would foster and develop cooperation between Ukraine and the United States as Mr. Geoffrey Pyatt did.

“The United States respects the existing partnership with Ukraine as Ukraine appreciates it with the United States,” the Ambassador stated.

The parties have agreed to develop and boost friendly relations.
