Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr
Groysman adheres to the position of increase in budgeting for diplomatic
missions of Ukraine abroad and will defend this view during the planning the
State Budget for 2017.
"I want to assure you that as Prime Minister, when planning the budget for 2017, I will maintain the stand to substantially raise funding for our diplomatic missions abroad", said Volodymyr Groysman during a meeting with heads of foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine on Wednesday, 24 August.
The Prime
Minister noted that the diplomatic service, like the system itself, faces a
lot of challenges to be addressed. In particular, according to him, the level
of budgeting of diplomatic missions of Ukraine abroad is rather low. He promised
to improve this situation from 2017. "We should rebuild the work of our offices, we should strengthen for you logistics support. The reality limits your activities. And I think in 2017 we should reach completely different performance standards and new standards of funding", announced Volodymyr Groysman. The Head
of Government noted that it is crucial to identify priorities and acute needs,
and ensure appropriate planning and financing of new spending. "I
believe that you should be provided with everything you need to be effective”,
said the Prime Minister. “Our diplomatic service, the Foreign Ministry must
be strengthened, must be supported properly to ensure your efficient service".
