Volodymyr Groysman deeply believes that Ukraine and Canada will open new opportunities for economic and trade cooperation and always be strategic partners

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman hopes that Ukraine and Canada will always be strategic partners, will open new opportunities for economic and trade cooperation, and relations will be strengthened each year.

"I deeply believe in the fact that every year our relationship will be stronger, we will open new opportunities for our economic and trade cooperation, we will be able to bring our cultural traditions together, will be for ever strategic partners, who trust each other, support and understand each other," stated Volodymyr Groysman during the informal meeting of Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Canada with representatives of business circles.

Volodymyr Groysman emphasized the special importance of the Canada’s steadfast support for Ukraine in this difficult period for the country "that is defending its independence and right to self-determination."

He thanked Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for the steadfast position of Canada in support of sovereignty of Ukraine on the international arena and in advancing reforms.

The Prime Minister stressed that Ukraine and Canada have great potential for cooperation, especially in the economic sphere. According to him, an important step towards the unity between the two countries was made after the signing of the free trade area between Ukraine and Canada. He recalled that after the signing of the Agreement happened after the large-scale Canada-Ukraine Business Forum, held on June 20-21 in Toronto.

The Head of Ukrainian Government noted that relations between Ukraine and Canada are close, warm and friendly. "In the early 20th century, many Ukrainian have found their home, a new home in Canada and stayed until now devoted to their homeland, Ukraine. It is a bridge connecting our bilateral relations. This is a very good basis for rapprochement of our countries and our peoples," he pointed out.

Volodymyr Groysman underlined that the visit of Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau demonstrates special attitude towards Ukraine. "We highly appreciate this and will do our utmost to make our relationship successful, to build up common democratic future," said the Prime Minister of Ukraine.

In his turn, Justin Trudeau expressed support for Ukraine on its path of reform and in countering military aggression. "Ukraine has faced enormous challenges, but we are still waiting for economic growth," he said.

The Canadian Prime Minister noted that Ukraine faces the challenges of military aggression in the east. "This is a burden not only for Ukraine but for the whole world. We have to make every effort to rectify the situation. Canada will always stand side by side with Ukraine,"  he noted.

Justin Trudeau also called for the strengthening of the activity of Canadian investors in Ukraine and Ukrainian investors in Canada.

"We will make every effort in order to help Ukraine move forward," he stated.
