On Friday, June 17, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr
Groysman met with the heads of Ukrainian community
organizations in the USA.
Volodymyr Groysman
thanked representatives of the Ukrainian community for non-indiferrence,
efforts to draw attention to Ukraine in the international arena, support for
volunteer programs and promotion of Ukrainian culture.
The Prime Minister noted that this year Ukraine will mark the 25th
anniversary of its Independence.
"I believe that the time has come when we need to demonstrate the
new principles, new approaches and new respective pro-Ukrainian policy within
Ukraine. This is our joint task," he stressed.
Today Ukraine is facing several challenges, including the Russian
military aggression, corruption and total political populism, he pointed out.
Volodymyr Groysman
noted that there is the civilizational struggle for
democratic values in eastern Ukraine. In addition, Ukraine has to resist
criminal propaganda of Russia. In this context, he stressed that the Ukrainian
army should be "well supplied, trained and ready to counter Russian
aggression."
The Prime Minister urged the world to be united in confronting the
aggressor. According to him, Ukraine has a great potential for development.
"Our task is to ensure effective reforms and changes able to open up the
potential of our country in the economic field and in other areas. We have to
build up fair social policy. We have to develop our country," he
underlined.
The Prime Minister spoke about the priorities of
the Government, stipulated by the plan of priority steps by the end of 2016,
including macroeconomic stability, improving governance, effective fight
against corruption, creating a favorable business climate and ensuring national
security and defense.
The Prime Minister also called on the community to join efforts for the
benefit of Ukraine.
The Head of Government noted the symbolism of the fact that his working
visit to the United States began with a meeting with representatives of the
Ukrainian community in Washington and ends with a meeting with the Ukrainian
community in New York City.
Volodymyr Groysman
visited the Ukrainian Museum in New York, toured the exhibition and made an
entry in the Guest Honour Book of the Museum.
The Prime Minister thanked the community for the promotion of Ukrainian
culture and expressed pride for the existence of such a museum in New York.
"We have to spread Ukrainian culture, we must
show the whole world all the virtues we are endowed by God. And this is very
important for us," he said.
