EU and US senior officials congratulated Volodymyr Groysman on his appointment as Prime Minister of Ukraine
On Thursday,
April 14, following the approval by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the new Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine,
Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman held telephone conversations with US Vice
President Joe Biden, President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz and EU
High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of
the European Commission Federica Mogherini.
The US Vice
President expressed hope that the new Government would create the necessary impetus
for the acceleration of systemic reforms in Ukraine under the cooperation
program with the IMF and Association Agreement with the EU. Vice President Joe
Biden reaffirmed U.S. solidarity with Ukraine as well as readiness of his
country to continue providing comprehensive support to Ukraine on the way of
reforms.
In response, Volodymyr Groysman emphasized commitment
to reforms in Ukraine and stressed awareness of the newly appointed Government of
the need to accelerate the pace and quality of system transformations in the
State. He also thanked Joe Biden for his personal role in supporting Ukraine by
the United States.
European
Parliament President Martin Schulz praised the effective bilateral cooperation
between the Parliament and the European Parliament, which marked the period of
stay of Volodymyr Groysman
as Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada
of Ukraine. In turn, the Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked Martin Schulz for
the practical contribution of the European Parliament in the process of
strengthening the institutional capacity of the Verkhovna
Rada and assured the Government’s readiness to
support this process.

Representative Federica Mogherini stressed the joint
position of the European Union to support Ukraine in addressing the urgent
challenges. Volodymyr Groysman,
in turn, thanked the European Commission for its readiness to support the new
Government in implementing key reforms, modernizing the country and combating
corruption.
