“Our objectives
are to accede to the European Union, to join the NATO, to promote the welfare
of all Ukrainian citizens, to become a healthy and educated nation”, announced
in his address on Sunday, April 3, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
The Head of
Government emphasized that the place of Ukraine is with the European Union: “We
signed an Agreement on political Association and Free Trade Area with the
European Union. We commenced the implementation of it – and it is crucial to further
implement it”.
“A visa-free
regime for the citizens of Ukraine will be granted: for this purpose, the
Government has spared no effort to ensure that the European Union could announce
their final decision”, he said.
Arseniy
Yatsenyuk stressed there was no doubt that Ukraine should become a member of
the North Atlantic Alliance: “For this purpose, we have launched retrofitting
of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, so that to align all our standards with the
criteria of member countries of the Alliance. We are at the stage of completion
of the process of upgrading the National Police and the National Guard”.
