Arseniy Yatsenyuk launches the new police service in Chernivtsi. The city will be patrolled by 342 policemen

On Sunday, March 27, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk together with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov has kicked off recruitment to a new patrol police in Chernivtsi.

Today 342 new patrol officers start patrolling the streets. The city will be patrolled by 27 crews.

The Head of the Government stressed that the Chernivtsi is the 20-th city which the patrol police was triggered in.

New patrol officers "have made the decision to serve the Ukrainian people, to serve Chernivtsi, Bukovina, to defend the safety in the city." New patrol officers, he said, had resolved to "be the best, to serve the people and implement their goals and values in the new Ukrainian patrol police": "It comes to the desire of an individual to change himself and to help others. That is how the changes are being made in the country. Changing the country starts with each individual, with every citizen".

However, the Prime Minister stressed that the patrol police is an element of broad reforms that need to take place in Ukraine. These are reforms of the law enforcement system, prosecutor’s offices and the judicial system, "these branches of power must not be corrupted and administer justice not in the name of US dollar but give fair and impartial judgment in cases which will be investigated and are investigating by new Ukrainian police".

In addition, we need a new quality of the educational system; we should change the medical system, infrastructure: "the country is changing. I really would like to see that it changes much faster. It's in our power".

"We’ve passed through the most difficult two years since the Russian military aggression that do not end. In these two years we act in the most difficult economic circumstances, which have no country of Europe. But we not only survived - we have proved that we are a strong nation. And we will not stop halfway", - he stressed.

"It is always difficult to move up, but there is no other way. Step by step, together, no matter how difficult, but we’ve won and will win", Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.

The Prime Minister noted that the new patrol officers take oath in a day when Christians celebrate Easter according to the Gregorian calendar: "If our police patrol takes oath in such a great Christian holiday, they will succeed".
