Arseniy Yatsenyuk: For the first in three years industrial production 7.6% up compared to the same month of the previous year

Ukraine’s industrial production in February grew by almost 8% and GDP grew by 1%. These are real signs of macroeconomic stabilization. For further stabilization we need first of all political stability and political responsibility of all democratic force, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk underlined at a Government’s meeting on Wednesday, 23 March.

The Prime Minister stressed that yesterday the State Statistics Service of Ukraine issued a formal report on the results of the industry in January-February 2016. "It's a really very positive piece of news when for the first time in three years it has been recorded a rise of industrial production compared to the same month of the previous year. Growth made up 7.6%," emphasized Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

In addition, the Prime Minister pointed out that he received from the State Statistics Service an estimate of gross domestic product for February: "According to their estimates, in February we also saw a rise of 1% in GDP."

"Almost a 8%-growth of the industry has given the opportunity to demonstrate that there are real signs of macroeconomic stabilization," he stressed.

Macroeconomic stabilization, according to the Prime Minister, is possible only "in case we continue to pursue the reforms that the Government has been carrying out for the last two years."

The Prime Minister stressed the need for cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, international institutions, "which help Ukraine provided that Ukraine helps itself."

"That's why we need in the first place political stability and political responsibility of all political forces, which in 2014 won the elections, formed a coalition, which should focus not on the provisional ratings of their own political parties, but the ratings of the country. Every politician in the country must fight for a rise in GDP," he stressed.

"I hope the political crisis to be resolved as soon as possible. I clearly stated two ways out of the political crisis. I will accept any of these ways. I look forward to further decisions from the coalition and especially the largest faction Petro Poroshenko Bloc and personally from the President," emphasized Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
