Arseniy Yatsenyuk at a meeting with Linas Linkevicius: We believe that the EU should extend sanctions against Russia
On Tuesday, March 15, Prime Minister of
Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk met Minister of Foreign Affairs of
Lithuania Linas Linkevičius.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk expressed gratitude for
the clear and consistent policy of Lithuania in
supporting Ukraine facing Russia's intervention and
protecting its territorial integrity and independence:
"Your position regarding the illegal annexation of Crimea, the Russian
invasion in Donetsk and Luhansk, the need to release
Nadija
Savchenko is rather firm
and worthy of deep respect".
"We expect that all the EU
member states will take
similar stance", added the Head of Ukrainian
Government.
"We
are convinced that the EU should extend sanctions against Russia. No
collaboration can be maintained through concessions – shall
it be values or principles", emphasized
Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
During the meeting Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Linas Linkevičius discussed further strategic
cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked the Government of Lithuania for the tangible financial and humanitarian support for Ukraine and noted the importance to prolong collaboration between the two countries to leverage investment from Lithuania and the EU to Ukraine.
