“Ukraine has changed quite a lot over the last 2 years. This is especially true for the agricultural sector. We charted the course towards the European values, norms and standards”, Oleksii Pavlenko, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, said during a meeting with representatives of the Netherlands Party “Democrats 66”.
The Minister stressed that the FTA with the EU is a great incentive for Ukraine to finally complete the undertaken reforms, and for domestic farmers to reach a new level of production and to achieve the European standards of product quality.
“As of today, for example, 75% of milk sold in the domestic market is produced by individual farms. Only 10% of the dairy companies produce milk of European quality. At the same time, this industry has great potential. With investment and appropriate support we can improve this rate and increase production almost two times,” the Minister noted.
Thus, the Minister believes that Ukraine presents a wide range of opportunities for Dutch businesses.
“In particular, agricultural engineering has a great potential for investment. Our goal is to develop and implement investment projects to establish production of high-performance combine harvesters, tractors and other innovative agricultural machinery and equipment, to attract major international companies, including the Dutch ones, to implement new projects in Ukraine. We are talking about investing in plants and technologies, the sphere that provides a great impetus for the development of Ukrainian farming”, Minister Oleksii Pavlenko summed up.
