"We have a historic responsibility to the Ukrainian State. Our country has never faced such challenges. The previous time it was a hundred years ago, when we lost our statehood. This time it won’t happen", declared Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk in the program The Right to Power on "1+1" channel on Thursday, February 11.
The Head of Government underlined that the Constitution of Ukraine "is so complicated that it laid an institutional conflict between the President and the Executive Branch, which is the Government": "This institutional conflict ended in 2005 with the collapse of the democratic coalition, pre-term elections and the return of Yanukovych".
"We, together with the President, had the task to prevent it", said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
"We should put aside personal things. This provides us the opportunity together with the President of Ukraine and his faction, no matter how difficult it is, to vote for laws, to take decisions, to sign a Free Trade Agreement with the European Union, to introduce a visa-free regime, to increase financing for the army, to implement all difficult, necessary reforms," he stressed.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk highlighted that he is a partner for the President: "If my partner President wants to see the Prime Minister a partner".
Now the political crisis could be overcome in only one way – "a decision of the President and the faction Petro Poroshenko Block," said the Head of the Government: "I respect his every decision. If he says: "Fellows, members of Government, I believe you have worked not right, I am dissatisfied with your work as the Head of State," we will be reconciled to it. Just submit a no-confidence resolution, we will admit this decision - of the President and Parliament. We respect this decision, because it is a democracy. There don’t exist lifelong positions and one shouldn’t set such a goal. An objective should be just to yield a result".
Another decision, he stressed, "if the President of the country says: "I realize that it is difficult for al of us, and to overcome these difficulties, we must move forward and never stop": "Just ignore populists, those who strive for power and those who have been destroying the country for 20 years. We have a goal, we have an objective, we have our values. We are capable of carrying out the change in this country together."
"I assure you that the President is aware of it, as well as our whole Government team and the parliamentary faction of the political party I chair," stressed Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
"We have a historic responsibility to the Ukrainian State. Our country has never faced such challenges. The previous time it was a hundred years ago, when we lost our statehood. This time it won’t happen", the Prime Minister promised.
"We have managed to stop Russia. We have prevented default. We have preserved our country. We will carry out much needed reforms in the country. We will make this country successful, - if we believe in it and if we are united", emphasized Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
