On Tuesday, February 2, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk received the delegation of the Bundestag led by Chairman of the Committee on the Affairs of the European Union Gunther Krichbaum.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk expressed gratitude for the support for Ukraine by the Government of Germany headed by Angela Merkel and the Bundestag in their efforts to counteract to Russia’s aggression and to ensure the peaceful settlement of the situation in the East of Ukraine, as also in the process of internal democratic transformations and economic reforms.
"We are appreciative for the weighty endeavours of Chancellor Angela Merkel to support Ukraine on our way towards restoring peace and enacting economic changes. It is crucial for us to preserve unshakable cohesion to face threats of a hybrid war, continued by the Kremlin not only against Ukraine, but against the European Union", stressed the Head of Government of Ukraine.
"We must realize that it is impossible to let political destabilization and disunity, neither inside our country nor among the members of the European community", accentuated Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
Members of the German Parliament praised the actions of the Ukrainian Government under extremely difficult external situation. Gunther Krichbaum assured of the continued support aimed at restoring peace, territorial integrity and sovereignty in occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and in Crimea.
During the meeting the parties discussed topical issues of Ukrainian-German cooperation and European integration of Ukraine. The Head of Ukrainian Government called on German MPs to further promote the European transformation of Ukraine, and particularly the introduction of a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens.
