Henichesk consumes gas solely of Ukrainian production

The town of Henichesk in Ukraine's Kherson region consumes gas solely from the Strilkove deposit, located near Arabatska Strilka in Kherson region.

Henichesk consumed 9.2 million cubic meters of gas in 2014. The Strilkove deposit's maximum gas output capacity is 25 million cubic meters per year. The field's operator is one of Ukraine's privately owned gas production companies.

The city of Henichesk is not physically connected to other parts of mainland gas transportation system of Ukraine. In summer, gas extracted at the Strilkove field is delivered to households in the town. An excess of the gas extracted in summer, which has not been used by residents of Henichesk, is pumped into the Hlibovske underground storage facility, located in the temporarily occupied territory. In winter, that Ukrainian gas is taken from this underground storage facility and shipped to Henichesk to cover peak consumption levels.
