At its session on Wednesday, 16 December, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is to approve an annual national cooperation program between Ukraine and the NATO and forward it to the President of Ukraine. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk at the Government meeting.

He stressed that Ukraine’s goal is to become a de-facto member of the North-Atlantic Alliance: "Presently, the standards in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, training in the UAF entirely comply with the standards of the NATO member states".

"It is the shortest way for Ukraine to obtain membership in the Alliance", explained the Head of Government.

"I believe that the reform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is executed by the Minister of Defence of Ukraine and supervised by the President, will result into granting to Ukraine both a de facto and de jure membership in the Alliance", summed up Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
