Arseniy Yatsenyuk calls on Foreign Ministry to ensure obtaining a legal report from European partners regarding adopted by the Parliament "visa-free" laws
"We should obtain as soon as possible a
final report on the compliance of Ukraine with the criteria for introducing a visa-free
regime", stressed Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk during a
Government session on Wednesday, November 18.
The Prime Minister reminded that the Parliament had
adopted a number of crucial laws, "but so far we have no a stance of the
European Commission whether the adopted laws adhere to the criteria necessary
to introduce a visa-free regime between Ukraine and the European Union".
Arseniy Yatsenyuk called on the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs together with the Ministry of Justice to promptly appeal to our
European partners with a request "to provide a legal report whether the
legislation endorsed by the Verkhovna Rada meets the requirements which had
been set by our European partners to ensure obtaining of a positive assessment report
enabling to introduce a visa-free regime."
"In case relevant legislation requires
changes, the next plenary week we should have a specific text", he
stressed.
The Head of the Government noted he would appeal
to the Parliament to ensure compliance of the approved laws with the
requirements and criteria of the EU "and facilitate the European Union
missions to provide a positive report on granting a visa-free regime for
Ukraine".
