The day before yesterday night Paris saw an outrageous, large-scale terrorist attack.

Terrorists were ruthless. About 150 innocent people were killed and even more were wounded.

Our society has taken this tragedy very hard. Near the French Embassy, I saw human, deep, very sincere condolences from Ukrainians. Ukraine shares a terrible wound of France. We understand this pain as no one else.

I would like once again to express on behalf of the Government of Ukraine words of compassion and support to the families of the victims, all the victims and the people of France.

Shooting took place in Paris. But the act of terror in Paris was aimed not only against France. This is an attempt to intimidate the whole mankind. This is an attack not just on a human life. This is an attack on all human values.

However, this crime has another ominous dimension. Terrorists want to cause a clash of cultures, religions and societies in order to undermine any basis for a civilized world order. Terrorists have no nationality and religious affiliation, because they do not know God. Terror wants to kill a dream that is at the heart of every normal human being: to be free from fear, from injustice, from trouble. To be free. This is our dream, as well as of Europe and the free world.

The French President called these events "act of war". I agree with him. And I am even more convinced that the answer to the battle against human freedom must be firm and decisive.

The world we used to has changed. The enemy is opposing us. This enemy is blinded and ruthless, he has many faces.

Freedom and humanity - these are the main features of the world that we are seeking to protect. We have the intelligence and strength to do everything we can to prevent liberty and humanity from squashing by totalitarianism, xenophobia and hatred of the other culture, religion or language.

So, we're at war. This is the war against freedom of a human being. It is beneficial to those who want mankind to be ruled by fear. Its main culprit is the one who despises a human life, who violates human rights, who neglects the identity of other nations, who disregards values. Those who are trying to force humanity to return to the Middle Ages in favor of their interests.

Ukraine faced with the same evil in 2014, when Russian imperialism and terrorism went on the offensive against us.

We have to unite around a few principles.

Unity. The free world should stand shoulder by shoulder, as in the Second World War. As in the global response to the terrorist attacks in New York, London, Madrid and other cities.

Global solutions. Common security problems cannot be solved locally. It is time to rebuild the entire system of international relations, and joint response to enormous challenges to human life.

Alliance. There is no place for half-truths any more. Terror is the same in all aspects. Against human life and against the independence of other people, and against the basic principles of civilized international community.

I have no doubt that the violation of security guarantees of the state that renounced nuclear weapons, the annexation of Crimea, Donbas occupation, the threats made by the Kremlin have given encouragement to global terrorism. A collective response of mankind must be clear and precise.

We believe in values. We defend values. The evil committed against other will find a common response. It cannot be any reconciliation with a terrorist and aggressor. The terrorist and aggressor must be destroyed together.

Sympathy of our people to the tragedy in Paris is a special and important feeling. It means that someone else’s pain does not leave anyone indifferent in Ukraine. But it is very important our compassion to be not only rhetorical or emotional. Our feelings must be active.

Our guys lose their lives again during shelling in the ATO area. The war against Ukraine continues. Our most important aim is to turn a common pain in unbreakable unity around ideas and dreams with which we identify Ukraine.

It means unity around common freedom and national independence. It means unity around our troops and our country. This means the common great support for our soldiers and their families. This means our efforts to prevent any attempt to destabilize the situation in Ukraine.

The enemy opposing us all is looking for different ways to enslave free people. We can stop this enemy. And we have proved it, because its essence lies in emptiness. His strength means dust and ashes.

Do not be afraid. Do not break. Let us be together in spite of any trial.

    God save us all.

God protect Ukraine, our army, state and people.
