The Government of
Ukraine has taken a decision to dismiss head of Chernobyl exclusion zone Yurii Antipov. This
decision was taken at a visiting session of the Cabinet of Ministers in Poltava
on Wednesday, 23 September.
Prime Minister of
Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk
addressed the members of the Government with this proposal.
The Head of the Government
stressed that during the last two days he held several meetings on the
situation in the Chernobyl exclusion zone: "Following my meeting with key
financial partners of the construction of the confinement, which allows to
cover the Chernobyl nuclear
power plant, after receiving
an official request from the European Bank for Development and Reconstruction, I
suggest the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to dismiss the head of Chernobyl
exclusion zone."
Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded that several months ago he visited the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and gave clear instructions to the head of the exclusion zone "aimed
at restoring order there." But
this did not happen.
