Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk commissioned the Ministry of Social Policy, heads of regional state administrations in synergy with law enforcement agencies to immediately convene a meeting of commissions to tackle issues of paying off arrears of wages. The Head of the Government said in 10 minutes program on Sunday, August 30.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk called unacceptable such cases of non-payment of wage arrears: “It is unacceptable when a person works, but he/she isn’t paid the earned money”.
The Head of Government informed she had instructed the Ministry of Social Policy, together with heads of regional state administrations and law enforcement agencies to summon meetings and “to do everything in power to ensure a working person to receive his/her salary in full”.
“Any enterprise that refuses to pay should bear both administrative and criminal responsibility”, said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
“We expect that the Ukrainian trade unions will stand to support employees, help the Government to demand unpaid wages and support our stance to increase minimum wages, social standards, pensions,” he stressed.
Moreover, Arseniy Yatsenyuk noted that the agenda of the Government includes “the reform of the entire wage system”: “It lacks fairness. Therefore, the Government together with the President and the parliamentary coalition will be working on a new upgraded remuneration system for all Ukrainians.”
