Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with Mustafa Jemilev and Refat Chubarov
On Thursday, August
13 Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk held a meeting with
Presidential Commissioner on the Crimean
Tatar Affairs Mustafa Jemilev and President of the World
Congress of Crimean Tatars, Chairman of the Mejlis of
the Crimean Tatar People, Ukraine’s MP Refat Chubarov.

Mustafa Jemilev and Refat Chubarov told the Prime Minister about the outcomes of
the II World Congress of Crimean Tatars in Ankara and emphasized the Crimean
Tatar people highly appreciate the principled position of Ukraine and its
Government to guarantee the protection and realisation of the inalienable
right to self-determination in a sovereign and independent Ukrainian state. In turn, the Head
of Government stressed that the state recognizes the Mejlis
as a competent authority of the Crimean Tatar people and would provide
comprehensive support to its activity. The interlocutors discussed the protection
of political, economic, cultural and spiritual rights of the Crimean Tatar
people, its international offices and providing opportunities for the Muslims
of Crimea to freely express their religious beliefs. Special attention
was paid to the problems of discrimination of Crimean Tatars by occupation
authorities, disappearances, murders, mass searches of mosques and private
homes, the constant humiliation of national dignity and memory. The participants
have agreed on the need to consolidate efforts of the Ukrainian Government,
civil society and international community to assert the fundamental freedoms
and human rights of the Crimean Tatars. In the meeting were
also participating Adviser to the Prime Minister, MP of Ukraine Viktor Yelensky, Adviser to the Prime Minister Danylo Lubkivsky, Head of the
State Service of Ukraine for the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and
Sevastopol, Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the
Crimean Tatar People Aslan Omer Kyrymly
and Director of the Department for the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and
Sevastopol of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Nariman Ustaiev. |
