PM calls on VR to approve Labor Code
Prime Minister
of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk
called on the Verkhovna Rada
to adopt a jointly accumulated Labor Code at a board meeting on Monday, July 20.
"The coalition
should support a jointly accumulated Labour Code, as
a labor code is a constitution of labor. How can we create a new labor market
while having the Soviet system of employment and Soviet policy employment in
general?" he said.
The Prime
Minister also dwelt on the need to meet the problems of the Pension Fund. According
to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, it is
not only the issue of government reform on reviewing categories and charging
systems in the Pension Fund. It is also important to reduce unemployment:
"The issue of the Pension Fund is the aging of the population, the increased
rate of retirees against working people, a fall in wages and a corresponding
drop in contributions to the Pension Fund and a reduction in overall
employment."
In order to
resolve this issue, Arseniy Yatsenyuk
pointed out, a bill on the National Employment Agency should
be urgently developed and submitted to the Government. The Prime Minister asked
this Minister of Social Policy Pavlo Rozenko.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk expressed hope that Parliament either at an
extraordinary or ordinary session to adopt a relevant bill along with the Labor
Code.
In
addition, Arseniy Yatsenyuk
appealed to Parliament to pass legislation for further carrying out pension
reform, especially on implementing a defined contribution system, and a draft
law on protecting migrant workers.
