Arseniy Yatsenyuk ordered to take urgent measures to bring Russia to justice through the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk took part in the meeting of the collegium of the Ministry of Infrastructure on Thursday, July 2.

At the meeting the Prime Minister has discussed losses of Ukraine due to annexation of Crimea, in particular due to the fact that sea ports were lost. Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Yuriy Vaskov reported that the share of revenues from the Crimean ports in the total income of the sea ports administration amounted to about 8%, and in the total volume of cargo handling - about 10%.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to bring the Russian Federation to justice through the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. Arseniy Yatsenyuk ordered the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure to address this issue.

In addition, according to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, there is information that "some of the vessels, which arrive to Crimea - on Ukrainian territory temporarily controlled by Russia - freely entering to other Ukrainian territory": "They change flags and then freely entering into our ports".

The Prime Minister appealed to the Deputy Minister: "Control under such vessels – it must be your competence. Once again I want to remind you that this is a violation of international law, therefore, the Ministry should fine more actively - as a violation of international law."
