Ukraine to intensify efforts for ratifying EU and ILO fundamental documents in the social area
"Despite the
ordeals Ukraine faces today, the current Government is determined to reform the
social area of our country according to the European standards," Minister
of Social Policy of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko stated
today, opening a seminar on the ratification by Ukraine of international documents
on social security of citizens.
The tripartite
seminar, during which it is being discussed ways of Ukraine’s ratification of the ILO Social Security (Minimum Standards) Convention No. 102 and the European Code of Social Security,
is held in Kyiv, on June 30. The Ministry of Social Policy and the ILO are organizers
of the event.
"These documents
outline the strategic direction of the social area’s development in Ukraine.
And this prospect is uniquely European. Despite the enormous social and
economic problems facing our state, we do not put aside the measures aimed at
reaching European living standards of Ukrainians," the Minister
underlined.
Having recalled
that over the past half a year Russian aggression in the East caused economic
crisis in the country and worsened social welfare, Pavlo Rozenko
hoped for Ukraine’s promotion by the ILO in finding answers to these challenges.
The Social Policy
Minister wished the conference’s participants a comprehensive discussion that
would help prepare Ukraine for ratifying the ILO Convention No. 102 and the European
Code of Social Security till the end of the year.
