Aivaras Abromavicius believes that benefit from the operation of SOEs should receive citizens of Ukraine

Ukraine has established a Supervisory Board for reform of state-owned enterprises that will monitor the progress and quality of reform, will provide advice on strategic issues and will promote ideas of reform, not only in Ukraine but also in the globe. Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius said this at a briefing at the Government House, on June 12.

"The Supervisory Board will not be engaged in direct implementation of reforms, but will operate closely with me and the task team of experts, created within the Ministry of Economic Development, - Aivaras Abromavicius underlined. - The Board includes leading experts in the field of public administration and reform, experts of international financial institutions, capital markets, direct investment, private sector. They are familiar with Ukraine, with the challenges facing the country, and are anxious to work for success of the reform of state-owned enterprises," the Minister added.

The Supervisory Board for reform of SOEs involves:

- Mark Iwashko, who has a 17-year experience in Ukraine in the field of direct investments and is the co-founder of Horizon Capital private equity fund (one of the main players in the region)

- Pawel Tamborski - President of the Management Board of the Warsaw Stock Exchange, previously served as Polish Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Treasury

- Francis Malizh - Managing Director of the EBRD for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, which has a wide experience of work in Eastern Europe, Turkey and the Balkans,

- Chimyao Fan - World Bank Director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, who runs the program of the Bank in these countries and conducts a strategic dialogue with the Government, representatives of civil society and other partners of the Bank in Ukraine,

- Taras Lukachuk - President of the Mondelez company in Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (coffee category), which has a considerable experience in management and business development, investment banking.

Head of the Odessa Regional State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili leads the Board, as he possesses a wide reform experience.

"Ukraine has a terrific potential: industrial, technological, human, which is incorporated in the state enterprises. We have to provide high salaries, to attract the best managers around the world, of course, Ukrainians will be better, who will effectively manage for the Ukraine’s benefit," Mikheil Saakashvili stressed.
