Arseniy Yatsenyuk: Canada grants $ 5 million to support training mission of the new patrol police of Ukraine
Canada took the
decision to grant $ 5 million Canadian dollars to promote the police training
mission for the new patrol police of Ukraine. This was announced by Prime
Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk following the meeting with Prime Minister
of Canada Stephen Harper on Saturday, June 6th.
"This is a real assistance
for Ukraine to be strong and safe state", said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
The Prime Minister of
Ukraine also stressed that in the shortest possible time the Canadian military were
expected to arrive for training the National Guard of Ukraine.
The Prime Minister of
Canada Stephen Harper, according to the Head of the Ukrainian Government, is to
attend a meeting of G7 states, where among the issues raised will be the
Ukrainian issue.
"Canada is one
of the strongest allies of Ukraine, and on behalf of the Government of Ukraine
I want to express gratitude to the Government of Canada, the people of Canada
and personally the Prime Minister for his clear and strong position and support
for Ukraine," Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed.
The meeting between Arseniy
Yatsenyuk and Stephen Harper was held at the Academic Institute of public
security police training, psychological service and the National Guard of
Ukraine.
The heads of
Governments of Ukraine and Canada visited the training class of police units and
examined samples of military equipment handed over by the Government of Canada
in the framework of technical assistance to Ukraine.
