MFA hosts briefing for foreign ambassadors to inform about recent provocations by Russia-backed terrorists in ATO area

June 4, on commission by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, the Foreign Affairs Ministry hosted a briefing for accredited in Ukraine ambassadors of the G7 countries, the EU member states and the OSCE Troika with the participation of the MFA leadership and the OSCE special monitoring mission. During the event in a videoconference format, the head of the Ukrainian side of the Joint center for control and coordination of questions of ceasefire and stabilization of the line of differentiation of the parties, Major-General Andrii Taran briefed foreign diplomats about recent developments and an attempt of a massive attack by the Russia-backed armed terrorist groups in the area of Maryinka and Krasnogorivka of Donetsk region, and answered the questions of foreign ambassadors as well.

Ukrainian armed forces successfully stopped the attack. It was stressed that the try of the Russian Federation and controlled by them militants to provoke the escalation of the situation was aimed at capturing new Ukrainian territories and important economic facilities, as well as testing the level of defense capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, their readiness to repulse an aggressor.

Ukraine remains completely committed to the Minsk agreements, ready to thoroughly fulfil them and urges on foreign partners to apply every possible tool to force the Russian Federation to abide by international law and stop the aggression against Ukraine.
