Address by Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk on the Day of Europe
I congratulate everyone on the Day of Europe
in Ukraine!
In November of 2013, our fellow citizens came up with the slogans
"Ukraine is Europe” all around the country. It was the start of a new era in
our history – it was the start of the Revolution of Dignity. For the open
desire to be part of the united family of European Nations, we had to pay a
high price.
Our European aspirations were prevented and are still being prevented. We
used to fall down, but got up and proceeded further. We would lose our heroes,
but every day became stronger and wiser, unstoppable and committed to our
European choice. Our strength and sacrifice, our mighty striving for truth and
freedom broke the debris of lies and triggered a wave of solidarity with
Ukraine in Europe and worldwide.
We are well aware that modern Europe is more than just a geographic location, it's more than politics or economy. Modern Europe
implies values: fundamental rights and freedoms, the democratic principles of
public governance, legal and social justice.
I am convinced that we are following the right path. On this way it is
crucial to be focused, persistent, demonstrate discipline and most importantly
- unreserved unity. And then Ukraine will join the team of best European
countries.
We have discovered in ourselves such endurance and such qualities, we
could have never imagined. We know, we are capable and strongly believe. So
we’ll win.
On Europe Day, dear Ukrainians! It is our Day!
Sincerely
Prime Minister of Ukraine
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
